ABOUT ME

For as long as I can remember, I've been interested in people, their stories, and what shapes the way we experience the world. That curiosity, together with my own life experiences, is what led me to become a counsellor.

Like many people in my generation, my late teens and early twenties didn't unfold in the way I'd imagined. The Covid pandemic changed what should have been years of growth, independence and connection. It brought uncertainty, isolation and the feeling that life had been put on hold. At the same time, there were the usual pressures of figuring out who I was, what I wanted from life, and where I belonged.

Growing up within my own culture also gave me a deeper understanding of how identity, family expectations and community can shape the way we see ourselves. I know what it's like to balance different expectations, to question where you fit in, and to navigate environments where talking about emotions isn't always easy or encouraged. Those experiences have given me a genuine appreciation for how complex our stories can be and how important it is to feel understood without judgement.

These experiences don't define me as a therapist, but they do shape the way I work. They remind me that everyone carries a unique story, and that healing doesn't come from being given the answers. It comes from feeling heard, understood and accepted.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Our culture, family and upbringing shape so much of who we are. They influence our values, relationships, expectations and the way we see ourselves.

For some people, navigating identity can feel complicated. You may feel caught between different cultures, trying to balance your own values with family expectations, traditions or the pressures of wider society.

You may have grown up in a space where emotions weren't openly talked about, where mental health was misunderstood, or where putting others first was expected.

Over time, this can make it difficult to set boundaries, express your needs, or choose a path that feels right for you.

In our work together, we can explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion. There is space for every part of your identity, your story and the things that matter to you.

You might find yourself questioning where you belong, changing parts of yourself depending on who you're around, or feeling like you need to meet certain expectations to be accepted.

Sometimes, this can lead to feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or disconnected from who you truly are.

What might it feel like to have a space where every part of your story is welcome?

1. what can you expect

In our sessions, you’ll be empowered to explore your thoughts, beliefs, behaviours, and emotions at your own pace. Through this journey of self-discovery, you'll increase your self-awareness, develop a stronger sense of independence, and build coping skills to navigate future challenges. Whether you’re dealing with specific issues or simply seeking greater clarity, counselling offers you a space to understand yourself better.

2. Your first step

If you’re considering counselling, let’s start with a complimentary 15 minute consultation. This initial meeting will allow us to discuss your needs, explore how I can best support you, and arrange a convenient time for our first session. Together, we’ll set the foundation for a therapeutic journey that’s uniquely yours.
